Counseling and equipping for all humans as young as five

Areas of Practice

Individual therapy

Individual therapy is the bread and butter of what we do. We believe in the power of human connection to create and sustain meaningful change in a person’s life. As therapists, we are not experts on you. You will always be the expert in the room when it comes to your life and your story. We simply walk alongside you to expand your perspective, grow your understanding of yourself and the world around you, equip you with tools, and challenge you towards the growth you’ve set for yourself. At the end of the day, we think having someone in your corner is life-changing. We offer both in-person sessions in our Sandy Springs office or virtual sessions.

therapy for children using art & play

Experts agree that play is the language of learning for children. For children ages 4-8, we engage in the therapeutic process primarily through art and play. Our office is equipped with all kinds of toys, costumes, art supplies, stuffed animals/puppets, games, and a comprehensive sand tray used in sessions to give children space to express themselves and learn new therapeutic skills, all while engaging in play. For children under the age of 12, we recommend all sessions be done in person rather than virtually so we can utilize our play resources and minimize distractions that can via a screen.

family therapy

Often in tandem with individual counseling, we offer family therapy for clients seeking holistic care for their family. Family therapy addresses systemic issues within a family unit and seeks to create a broader shift in a family’s connectivity, health, communication, and engagement with one another. * Often in individual counseling (particularly with children but sometimes with adults), a parent or partner may be invited into session as a support to the client. This does not constitute family or couples therapy. A session is considered family therapy only if the issues being addressed directly involve the family dynamic as a whole and pertain to all people within the family system.

parent coaching

Parenting in the modern age is nothing short of confusing. With the the internet at our fingertips comes a deluge of information telling us how we should and shouldn’t parent — do more of this, do less of that, and for sure avoid doing that at all costs. The information is contradictory, constant, and copious. We aim to simplify all that. At the end of the day, humans have been raising humans for centuries and we believe that ultimately parents have always had what it takes to parent in whatever era of time they were in. It’s true that the challenges of our modern world are new and unprecedented. Even still, our goal in parent coaching is to help you simplify your mental load, drown out the noise, and parent each of your children with confidence.

couples therapy

It’s a cliche for a reason: relationships are hard work. We understand that even the strongest relationships go through seasons where an outside source of mediation and perspective can be the difference between staying stuck and moving forward. We work with couples in all stages of relationship through issues such as communication, parenting, infidelity, sex, blended families, and anything else that is a part of existing within relationships. We also offer pre-martial counseling and pre and post divorce support.

adoption counseling

Adoption is nuanced. Though the heart of adoption is simple — all families are built and sustained by love, not by biology — the implications of adoption are often times very complex. We have over a decade of experience working with children and adults who have been adopted, birth families, foster families, and forever families. We approach adoption like we approach every other topic we counsel clients through: honestly, unashamedly, and always holding space for both grief and joy.

executive functioning coaching

Executive functioning is at the core of virtually all that we do in our day-to-day lives. Following through on what we say we’re going to do, getting an assignment done by its deadline, making it to work on time, saving money for retirement, not losing our marbles when our preferred sports team croaks in the final seconds of the game — it’s all executive functioning. The strength of our executive functioning is a key component of what allows us to successfully navigate through life. Whether you struggle with ADHD or simply feel that navigating life would be easier if you got a hold on your time management or your ability to emotionally regulate in stressful situations, executive functioning coaching is where we explore both practical and internal ways to improve your abilities to navigate life’s daily challenges.
